Hij studeerde aan de prestigieuze Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver terwijl hij in zijn eigen studio werkte en experimenteerde met ongebruikelijke materialen die uiteindelijk het handelsmerk werden van zijn kenmerkende stijl. Na een inspirerende reis naar Europa ging hij in Mexico wonen om bronsgieten te studeren. Initially trained as a sculptor, Sid Dickens quickly distinguished himself in the early 1990s for his pioneering, unconventional and prolific Memory Blocks. Sid describes himself as extraordinarily motivated and a relentless spectator and continues to be inspired by his travels and constant research around the world. With countless adoring fans and famous collectors such as Sir Elton John, Liv Tyler, Dolce & Gabanna, Bono, Sting, Phil Collins and Hilary Duff, his name and unique Memory Blocks are recognized worldwide.
He studied at the prestigious Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver while working in his own studio, experimenting with unusual materials that eventually became the trademark of his signature style. After an inspiring trip to Europe, he went to live in Mexico to study bronze casting. Innovative finishes are achieved through its own process of working by experimenting with an unusual combination of materials and techniques. For some designs he literally invented his own glazing formulas - structured to highlight and challenge specific characteristics of plaster and to respond to the unique architectural volume of each piece.
